In India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 5th of September.  It is the day of birth of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.  He was born on 05.09.1888 .  His birthday is celebrated as teachers day in India.  He was the first Vice President and the second President of India.  He was also a devoted and dedicated teacher.

Dr. Radhakrishnan received many awards throughout his life.  He got the title of Knighthood in 1931.  He got Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India.  Radhakrishnan used to believe that ” Teachers should be the best minds in the Country”.

India started celebrating teachers ‘ day in 1962.  Dr. Radhakrishnan himself was a great teacher.  On this day, we show respect to our teachers.  Several types of programmes are organised  in schools, colleges and University on this occasion.  Both teachers and students teach the classes on this day in schools.

How to make Teachers Day –

Government gives state  and national award to teachers on 5th September.  Teachers not only get cash money but also certificates and blanket as prize.  The  teachers are also awarded with prizes at local level and school level also.  The students should always respect their teachers.  Ravinder Nath Tagore said ” The teachers burn himself to give light to their students.”  This year our president also teach on this day in the various schools.
